New nukes in Britain? Excellent news for the industry…

… possibly not so great for the rest of us. The BBC says the minimum cost of building the plant is likely to be a mere £1.2bn and the on-going cost of fuel is only 10% of operating costs. Sounds like a solid business model for the operators but there are many things they don’t mention, such as: the cost of insurance to cover an accident (how can you insure against a nuclear disaster?) and, of course, the on-going dilemma of where to put something that will only kill you half as dead in 24,000 years.

Looks like the Germans are doing OK with alternatives.

Fighting this sounds like a job for eco-warrior, Luna Blue.
