Since retiring, it’s been my pleasure to occasionally volunteer my skills for the community. One of them is Fiesta Whitley Bay, a fun and free activity with live music that happens in the town centre about once a quarter.
I’ve been working closely with the charming Wendy Helps (@wahelps on Instagram) to create print-ready flyers and social media adverts for the events. Wendy thinks up the ideas and mocks them up from paper, I sprinkle on some digital magic with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Our collaboration works well (and gives us an excellent excuse to chat over tea and cakes at a different seaside cafe every time).
A selection of the flyers is shown here – we like them bright and cheerful. Apparently others do, too … and some people like them so well, they collect and keep them. That’s flattering and sweet. It’ll be coming around again before you know it – watch this space.
