Life Energy is a screenprint in progress. This is the source image, made by hand drawing the Chinese characters onto ordinary feint-ruled notebook paper, then cutting out the characters with a scalpel. to make a stencil. (Had to use a bit of clear tape to restore part of the top character — the middle, rectangular section of the lower left element should be clearly distinct, like centre of the letter A). The stencil was then photocopied numerous times on various settings, included an inverted version.
This particular image has been manipulated in Photoshop with adjustment layers (darkened for contrast using a Brightness/Contrast layer and coloured greenish using a Color Balance layer).
The actual screenprint was done using a pair of positive and negative versions of the image shown here.
